LEMURS OF THE EAST AND SOUTH MADAGASCAR: PARKS, RICE FIELDS, AND SEA (HIGHLANDS) (Andasibe + RN7)
Discover Madagascar's wildlife and breathtaking landscapes with a 14-day journey through rainforests, highlands, and coastal paradises.
About the tour
14 days to explore the largest rainforest national park near Antananarivo and admire the wildlife of Eastern Madagascar. The journey includes the Perieyras Reserve, the famous Andasibe National Park, home to Madagascar’s largest lemurs, the indri, and the colorful diademed sifaka among other species, as well as the iconic Lemur Island at Vakona. A night walk offers the perfect opportunity to spot mouse lemurs and frogs. This region is one of the best spots to observe the island’s endemic bird species.
The adventure continues through Antsirabe, known as the “City of Salt” for its numerous mineral and thermal springs, and through the beautiful highlands and southern regions of Madagascar. The Malagasy highlands are marked by rice paddies and traditional villages with houses made of red bricks, reflecting the color of the earth. In the lush rainforest, a walk will allow you to observe numerous species of lemurs.
You will also visit the stunning Anja Reserve, managed by the local community, where you can admire many ring-tailed lemurs with their distinctive striped tails. Before reaching the sea, you’ll explore Isalo National Park, characterized by mountains shaped by erosion into forms resembling Madagascar’s Grand Canyon, with natural pools where you can enjoy a refreshing swim.

Numerous gatherings are organized in Isalo, referred to by the Malagasy as the "Malagasy Colorado", which can be either walking or easy to interpret.
